The White Horse of Justice

by Cheri Fritts

When the clouds are all dark and the sky is all gray,

Seems there’s no strength for each dreary day.

When it feels like darkness and corruption all around,

When it seems like injustice and evil abound,

When the people all stagger,

When their chains keep them bound...

Then it’s time to get on and ride.

There’s a horse that must be ridden,

His name is called Justice.

He is awesome, he’s courageous;

He’s powerful and he’s fast.

Now it’s time to ride the White Horse,

It’s time to run with purpose;

So take him by the bridle

And leap up on his back.

Ride, ride, ride the White Horse of Justice!

Ride, ride, ride like the wind!

Keep on ridin’ till the dawning of a new day,

Don’t stop ridin’ till you reach the righteous end.

When the child’s belly’s swollen,

And the mother’s in despair;

When the poor cry out,

And the rich, they plug their ears;

When they cry out in the streets,

When they march upon the square;

When the soldiers shoot their bullets

And the blood begins to flow. . .

Then it’s time to get on and ride.

Ride, ride, ride the White Horse of Justice!

Ride, ride, ride like the wind!

Keep on ridin’ till the dawning of a new day,

Don’t stop ridin’ till you reach the righteous end.

When pornography is rampant,

Defiling images and immorality oppress,

When a father sells his daughter,

And the mother turns her back,

Another child is robbed of destiny.

There is no one to defend her;

Who will stand in the gap?

When she’s forced into a lifestyle of systematic rape,

Who will rebuke the oppressor when even

Law enforcement is on the take?

The White Horse knows the path;

It’s Isaiah 1:17:

‘Learn to do good and seek  justice;

Rebuke the oppressor!

Defend the fatherless,

And plead for the widow!’

Have a heart like Wilberforce;

He stood again and yet again

In the House of Commons,

Never giving up the fight.

Spurred on by God’s amazing grace,

He smashed the chains of slavery

And gave Africans back their lives.

Now it is the eleventh hour;

Look around you, we must be near the end.

Wrap your hands in His mane and hold on tight;

Get ready for the ride of your life!

In the face of darkness and injustice,

He is faithful and He always runs true.

Through toils and snares and shadows,

He’ll help you find your way;

You’re ridin’ on the White Horse,

And He’ll surely get you through.

Ride, ride, ride the White Horse of Justice!

Ride, ride, ride like the wind!

Keep on ridin’ till the dawning of a new day,

Don’t stop ridin’ till you reach the righteous end.
